Survivor Series Saturday Featuring Scott Hunter

It's Survivor Series Saturday and today we bring you a story brought to you by Scott Hunter, a Type A Aortic Dissection survivor. We would like to thank Scott for sharing his story with the Aortic Hope community. We wish him well on his continued recovery.

On Thanksgiving Day 2022, I had a type A aortic dissection (AD) and an emergency open heart surgery (OHS). About a year later I had another OHS/sternotomy for a more complete aortic repair: valve (bovine), ascending, arch, descending/"frozen elephant trunk"(FET) and 6 weeks later a TEVAR to attach a stint to the bottom of the FET and to wrap my iliacs with "chicken wire". During the FET surgery my lungs collapsed and accelerated my Pulmonary Fibrosis and I departed Cleveland Clinic (CC) on oxygen. My oxygen requirement grew quickly so I returned to CC in May 2023 for a double lung transplant (DLT), else I would not be here. There were complications and I was in the hospital for 5 months. It has been 11 months since the DLT and I am still recovering.
